Welcome back to Off the Garden Path

I'm off the garden path again!

I am happy to say that the website is up and on its way to great gardening!

While we are still cultivating this new garden space, I hope you will enjoy some of the information you find here.  It is my wish to pique your gardening interests, however great or small they may be.  I will bring to you, new gardening ideas, planting techniques, and innovative ways to make your gardening easier and more enjoyable.

Hats off to my wonderful webdesigner, Bob Medley. Without his constant support, this website would not be possible.

Currently, many of us are still finding our yards a frozen tundra or a muddy mess. Pretty soon, as the soils dry to a manageable work; you will be bringing out your tillers, shovels, and cultivating rakes to create those wonderful gardens. While we wait; we can comb our gardens and do some light raking, removing dead growth and any debris or trash that may have settled in over the winter.

With a keen eye, it is a good time to look closely for any winter damage that may have occurred, whether due to pests (both crawling and disease) or the weather. Take stock of your gardens now so you will be able to enjoy them throughout the spring and summer.

Now's a good time to check for scale insects whether on your roses or your pines and euonymus. You can apply a horticultural oil or seasonal oil at this time. For more info, you can check out our section on pests.

If you find yourself still staring out the window and wondering if it's ever going warm up or dry out; be sure to look up the many garden and home shows that appear around the country at this time of the year. I hope to have a listing of those for you soon.

Until then, Happy Gardening!
